Margaret Gale, age 81, of Amherst, passed away peacefully on August 25th at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre after her short battle with cancer. Born in Stony Plain, Alberta, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Pauline (Zahn) Horn.
She was one in a wonderful family of seven sisters and five brothers.
Margaret worked for many years at Sun Oil Company in Calgary, Alberta, prior to moving to Amherst with her best friend and husband Reg in 1965. Together they built and worked at their first plastics manufacturing company, Markland Works, in Amherst before adding their second company CanAm Containers LTD and moving to Springhill. She loved bowling and golfing and was an active member in the United Church in West Leicester for many years.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her loving daughters, Kathryn Gale (Todd) and Jane Landry (Vince); her beautiful grandchildren, Kandace Smith, Julie Seymour, Krystal Landry, Vince Landry Jr., and Jamie-Lynn Landry; great grandchildren, Cameron, Jesse, and Dylan, as well as four sisters, two brothers, and their families.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Reginald Leake Gale (1927-1984), three brothers and two sisters
Margaret's remains have been cremated under the care of the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home. As per Margaret's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Margaret will be laid to rest with her husband at the Amherst Cemetery at a private family gathering. Friends and family are invited for a time of remembrance on Monday, August 30, 2010 from 2-4pm at the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (667-8777).
Donations in Margaret's memory can be made to the Amherst VON or the Palliative Care Unit of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
