It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Wayne Yates, age 39, on May 30, 2009.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Mary Leona (MacPherson) and Thomas Yates.
Wayne was a member of St. Anthony’s parish.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, watching hockey games, listening to country music, especially Hank Williams. Wayne will be remembered for his sense of humour, his smile, his heart made of gold and his beautiful voice. Wayne also had a love for animals. We will miss him so very much.
Wayne is survived by three sisters, Donna (Fred) Kennedy, Patricia (John) Odo, Sheila Rideout; three brothers, Arnold (Mildred) Yates, Thomas Jr. (Maureen) Yates and David (Glenda) Yates. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Leona Yates; a brother and sister in infancy; his maternal grandparents, Catherine and Neil MacPherson and his paternal grandparents, Julia Ann and George Edwin Yates.
A visitation for Mr. Yates will take place from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Patten Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating. A reception to follow at St. Anthony’s Church Hall. Burial in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
