Kerr Peter Abraham, 87, passed away Saturday, August 28th, 2010 in St. Martha's Regional Hospital Antigonish. Born in North River Bridge, he was the son of the late Dan Angus and Sarah (Briggett) Kerr. Peter was an accountant for the Municipality of the county of Colchester in Truro. He and his wife Shirley retired to Baddeck where they opened a Bed and Breakfast and spent many winters in Florida. Peter was a veteran of WWII and a member of the Truro Jollity Horseman's Club. He enjoyed horse racing, hockey games and had a great love for animals.
He was a member of Free Wheelers in Baddeck, and volunteered for the United Way, Meals on Wheels, Baddeck Library and was Treasure of
Greenwood United Church.
Peter will be sadly missed by his children, daughters Debbie Irving (Glenn) Tatamagouche, Morah Kerr (Tom Hollis) Greenfield and son John
Kerr (Joanne) Antigonish, grandchildren Jacob, William and Isaac Kerr Antigonish, Kelly Sanderson (Brian) Ottawa, Karin Irving (Peter
Newell) Truro, and three great grandchildren, Alec, Julia and Claire. Peter is survived by his brother John Kerr (Betty) Sydney River, sister Murdena Carmichael (AJ) St Anne's and sister in-law Geraldine (Dunlop) Jackson of Halifax.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years Shirley (Dunlop) Kerr and his brother Alexander Kerr of North River Bridge.
Funeral services will be held at Greenwood United Church in Baddeck on Wednesday September 1st, 2010 at 2 pm with reverend Karen Lynch
officiating with a reception to follow. Burial will be in St. Andrews cemetery Baddeck Forks. In lieu of flowers Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Martha's Regional Hospital foundation.
A special thanks from Peter's family, to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Martha's Hospital; for the exceptional care he received for the past two months.
