The death occurred at the Western Hospital, Alberton on Monday June 1, 2009, of Emile J. Bernard of Tignish, aged 80 years. He was born in DeBlois, March 14, 1929, the son of the late Joseph and Jane (Doucette) Bernard. He is survived by the mother of his children, Doris Bernard, Tignish, daughters Rose Harper, Tignish, Angela Blanchard (Frank), Tignish, Dianne Jeffery, Summerside, sons, Paul (Gail), Tryon, Lloyd, Alberta and Gussie (Heather), Pleasant View. Dear grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Rita (Joe) Gold, Indiana, U.S.A., Mary Ouellett, Summerside, Eva Arsenault, Toronto, Theresa Bernard, Pleasant View, and Ruth Bernard, Toronto, Ont., sisters-in-law, Margaret Bernard, Willowdale, Ont., Betty Bernard, Midland, Ont., and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jane, brothers, George, Albert, Russell, sisters, Julia, Helen, Mildred, brothers-in-law, James Whelpley, Clovis Doucette, Robert Wittaker, Milton Arsenault, Melvin Bernard, sister-in-law, Kaye Bernard. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, Palmer Road, for visiting hours Wednesday 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be held Thursday, June 4, 2009, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road, with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Hospital, Alberton would be greatly appreciated.
