Joan Marie Cross of Saint John passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 3, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born 1939 in Saint John to the late Charles and Mary (Nugent) Trott. Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She had a crazy sense of humour, liked to read, knit and do crosswords and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Joan is survived by her children Lori LeBlanc (Stephen) of Rothesay, Hali Cross (Jeff Cail) of Upper Golden Grove, Ken Cross (Cyndi) of Quispamsis and Derek Cross (Sarah) of Saint John; former husband Harry Cross (Jane) of Saint John; grandchildren Cliff Doucette (Nawal), Tiffany LeBlanc, Adam LeBlanc, Amy Cross, Katie Cross, Kenny Cross, Cora Cross, Chelsy Cross, Jacob Cross and Timmy Allan; one precious great granddaughter Ace; siblings Dorothy Trott, Audrey Drew, Mary Pettie, Shirley Saunders, Margaret Mason, Harriet Taylor, Barb Brennan and Donald Trott; several neices, nephews, many, many friends and feline friend Bobbie and canine friend Annie. Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her son Christopher Frederick Cross, brothers Fred, Charles and John and one sister Ruth Doucette.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). The family will receive friends on Monday, September 6, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 7 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
