BRITTAIN, Joseph Austin - 83, of Wellington, Yarmouth Co., passed away August 27, 2010, at his home. Born in Wellington on April 8, 1927, he was a son of the late Ernest and Florence (Cook) Brittain. Joseph was employed at Atlantic Wholesalers in Yarmouth for 28 years. He loved reading books, was a hobby farmer for many years and also was an avid hunter. He is survived by wife, Norma Jessie (Cann), Yarmouth; daughter, Ellen (Gary) Titus, Brooklyn; sisters, Geneva Scoville, Annapolis Valley; Katheryn Mullen, Wellington; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Percy, Harry, Neil and Ralph; sisters, Ida Chipman, Ruth Hatfield and Lillian Pierce. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Yarmouth. Visitation took place one hour prior to the funeral service, 1:30-2:30 p.m., which was held Wednesday, September 1 at 2:30 p.m. from Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. "Bill" Newell officiated. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery, Hebron. Donations in memory may be made to Tidal View Manor or to a charity of your choice.
