It is with great sadness to announce the unexpected passing of Bud Murphy of Saint John on Saturday, September 4, 2010. Born in July of 1933 in Saint John, N.B, he was the son of Pearl Murphy and the late Thomas Murphy. He was a devoted and loving son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Bud enjoyed watching baseball, Texas holdem poker, the Dog Whisperer, John Wayne Western's and war movies. He enjoyed reminiscing about his younger years in the Blackwatch and baseball years to his daughter's Laurie and Teena and their spouses. Bud loved animals and always had a houseful of dogs and cats; his last pride and joy was his dog Patches whom he adored. During his career, Bud worked at the Cherry Brook Zoo, the Cotton Mill, Saint John Dry Dock and owned his own cleaning buisness. He was a past member of the Buffalo Club, Union Street, Saint John.
Besides his mother, Bud is survived by and will always be missed and loved by his children Laurie White (Darren) of Oromocto, Teena Greenlaw (Chris) of Quispamsis, Theresa Roy (Brian) of Saint John, Christine Letcher (Richard) of Nova Scotia, Linda Davidson, Peggy Murphy, Gail Murphy and one son Mike Murphy; lifelong companion Laura Beckwith of Saint John; brother Ron Brehaut (Theresa) of Saint John; grandchildren Raven, Drew, Nick, Taylor, Brian Jr, Stephen, Jason, Ashley, Lyndsay, Jenny, Kimberly, Christine, Danny, Joelyn, Cheryl and Robbie; 9 nieces and nephews and many friends.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday, September 7th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 8th at 1:00p.m. Donations in memory of Bud may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
