Frederick (Fred) Robichaud, of Shediac (formerly of Memramcook) passed away at the Dr Georges L. Dumont Hospital on September 5, 2010 at the age of 96.
Born on October 12, 1913 in Waltham, MA, he was the son of the late Edouard Robichaud and the late Delina Gaudet.
He took ownership of Memramcook Transport Ltd (buses and school buses) from 1953 to 1975 from his father Edouard. In 1954, he was the first Fire Chief for the Memramcook Fire Department and was a founding member of the Memramcook Golden Age Club, and was president from 1976 to 1980.
He is survived by two daughters, Stella (Jerome) Miranda, of California and Jeannette Robichaud, of Shediac; one son, Paul (Della) of Dieppe; seven grandchildren, Mary, Michelle, Richard, Monique, Lise, Maurice and Denise; 11 great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Albertine (1999); four sisters, Soeur Violette n.d.s.c., Geneva, Stella and Evelyn; and by three brothers, Joseph, Gerard and Valerie.
Visitation will be held at Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook, on Tuesday, September 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday, September 8 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Funeral mass will be held at Saint Thomas de Memramcook Church in St-Joseph on Wednesday, September 8 at 11:00 am. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Dupuis Funeral Home, Memramcook.
