Charles Edward 'Ted' Tracey, Beacon Street, Sydney, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Charles and Audrey (Whitman) Tracey.
Ted was the first men's hairstylist East of Toronto, running the family barbershop for a number of years. For 16 years, he worked as regional manager for Central Trust, retiring from Nova Scotia Trust.
Surviving are his son, Jeff (Katie Tolan), Washington, DC and their children, Rebecca and Andrew; daughters, Ellen (Mark) Gibbs, Ottawa, Ont. and their children, Kyle and Nathaniel and Erin (Jean Guy) Belzile, North Bay, Ont. and their children, Brianna and Keenan; great-grandchild, Christian; sisters, Frances (Wilfred) McLean and Laurel (Don) Alexander; longtime friend and dance partner, Jessie MacDonald; and his cat, Shadow.
Ted was predeceased by his wife, Marie (Metcalfe) in 1996; son, Brad and sisters, Bertha Tracey and Avril Ferguson.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of Ted's life will be held at Club 55, Prince Street, Sydney, on Friday, Sept. 10 after 7 p.m. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Palliative Care, An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
