The passing of Betty Muriel Corey of Fredericton, NB, wife of Eugene Corey occurred on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 13, 1933 in Staples Settlement, NB, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Elsie (Nason) Brawn. Betty retired as a Nurses Aid at York Manor Nursing Home. She enjoyed writing poetry, playing cards, games, flower gardening, bird watching, pickling and especially loved her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her daughter, Nancy Veno of Fredericton, NB; sons, Randy (Edwina) Corey of Fredericton, NB and Avon (Mavis) Corey of Keswick Ridge, NB; nine grandchildren, Stacey, Amy, Alex, Melanie, Corey, Jesse, Adam, Elisha and Ryan; 14 great grandchildren, Luke, Grace, Elias, Ella, Keira, Annalise, Brandon, Michaela, Amber, Austin, Sierra, Tristan, Lindsay and Owen; sister, Florence Billings and brother, Donald Brawn both of Fredericton, NB; also survived by her many wonderful friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Phoebe, Laura, Pauline, Isobel and Mary; brothers, Ellis, Weldon, Charlie, George and Garnet; son-in-law, Gerald Veno.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Douglas Baptist Church on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 2 pm with Pastor Peter Moore officiating. Reception will follow at the church. Interment will take place in Bear Island Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
