Ellen Moore of Fredericton, born March 18th 1925, died peacefully at home Wednesday, September 8th, 2010. Ellen emigrated with her family from Carlisle, England to Canada in 1948. She moved to Fredericton after her husband Chris died in 2005 to be closer to family. She volunteered with the Fredericton Community Kitchen, Meals on Wheels and AIDSNB and was active in the Library Book Club, Tai Chi, and took a special interest in the needs of the homeless. Ellen will be remembered for her feisty ways and her friendly disposition even in the face of her illness. She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Chris and survived by her daughters Pat Behrend (Dave), Anne Moore (Michael) and Margaret Beson (Pat), as well as grandchildren Lisa, Jenn (Joe), Claire, Christopher, Tyler and great-grandson Michael. She will also be missed by her special friends Karen, Lulu, Tom, Anne Marie and Tim among many others. Even in death her love of giving to others was shown in the donation of her body to Dalhousie Medical School.
A celebration of her life will be held with a gathering of family and close friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers and cards, donations to the Community Kitchen would be appreciated. We would like to thank Dr. Louise Ruest, Dr.Bryden and all of the Oncology staff at the DECH for their kindness and compassion throughout this challenging time.
