It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Martin, 78, of Glace Bay. Barbara passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late John and Charlotte (Gillis) Martin.
Barbara was a member of St. John's Church, New Aberdeen. She was employed with Bell Telephone, Toronto, and also Maritime Tel & Tel, retiring after many years of service. Barbara had a great passion for music. She played the violin and piano and taught both over the years. She loved her family dearly and they meant the world to her.
Barbara will be sadly missed by her brothers, Enis and Johnnie, both of Glace Bay, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by sisters, Rita, Catherine, brothers, Buddie, Roy and Adrian 'Minnow.'
Visitation for Barbara will be held Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Church, New Aberdeen, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall, all are welcome.
