Edward Joyce
The death of Mr. Edward J. Joyce, husband of the late Helen Theresa (Wagg) Joyce occurred on September 14, 2010 at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing. Born in Saint John on February 9, 1922, he was the son of the late Matilda (Doyle) and John Joyce. Mr. Joyce had served with the Canadian Artillery during WW II. Ed had been a longshoreman, and was also a supervisor of the housekeeping department at the DVA Hospital. He owned race horses at Exhibition Park and enjoyed dancing, especially at the RCL #69 on Saturday nights. He is survived by one brother "Jack" John Joyce of Calgary, sister Alice Childhouse of Winnipeg, daughter-in-law Jeannine Joyce, grandson Kevin Wayne Joyce, and granddaughter Lisa Theresa McLeod, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren He was predeceased by his parents, wife Helen, son Wayne Edward Joyce, and several brothers and sisters.
Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701) with visiting on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The RCL will hold a Tribute to a Veteran Service on Thursday at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Friday at 12 noon from Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Following the interment a reception will take place at the RCL #69. Donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by Ed's family.
