We mark the peaceful passing of Archibald Jerome McNeil which occurred Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at his residence in MacDougall Court, Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility.
Born May 18, 1931, in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Neil and Mary Bell (MacDonald) McNeil of Bridgeport.
Archie is survived by his wife, Martha MacDonald; sisters, Mary Lou (Vince) Browner, Gloria McNeil, Anna Lee McNeil; brothers, Doug (Mary Jessie), Greg (Janet), John 'Butch', Neil (Linda) MacDonald. Archie is also survived by his MacDonald children, Monica, Lauchie (Debbie), Patricia, Eileen (Paul), Colleen (Johnny) and Daniel (Lisa); grandchildren, Lauchie MacDonald, Taylor Veres; and special friend, Leah McPherson.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Daniel 'Fox' McNeil, aunt Lavinia 'Diddy', nieces, Shirley Nicholson and Neila McNeil, nephew, John McNeil Jr.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A private committal service will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Donations in Archie's memory may be made to the Community Homeless Shelter, P.O. Box 129, Sydney, N.S., B1P 6K3.
