It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Catherine Royal of Newton Street on Friday, June 5, 2009, at her home in Glace Bay.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Mary (MacLean) Brown, former residents of Arthur Street, Glace Bay.
Mary worked at Bade’s bakery, Black Diamond Pharmacy and Shoppers Drug Mart.
Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her infant brother Allie.
Mary is survived by her husband, Gary; her daughter, Crystal (Terry) Sparrow, Alberta; her son, Tyler (Pam), Sydney. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Hannah, Garrett, Jeremy, Jordan and Tyson. She is survived by four brothers, James (Carol), New Brunswick, Evans (Dawn), Glace Bay, Sheldon (Leone), Glace Bay, and Wilsie, Halifax; four sisters, Linda (Len) Baspaly, Winnipeg, Shirley (Barry) Whillans, British Columbia, Donna (Rich) La Rocque, North Carolina, and Brenda Givens (Dave) Alberta.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, June 9 at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS society in Mary’s Memory.
