Mildred (Millie) Ellen Johnston-Ens passed away Sept. 17, 2010 at Spencer Nursing Home, Moncton, N.B. She was the daughter of the late Finley and Adeline Bonnyman Mildred is survived by her children: Layton (Mary)Johnston Summerside, Wayne (Ruth) Johnston Stanley Bridge, Ida Johnston (Reg Boudreau) Summerside, Ellen Johnston New London, Phillip Johnston Moncton, N.B., Kimball (Julie) Johnston Clinton. Grandchildren: Rebecca (Ron MacLean) Kirk ( Shawna) Johnston, Chris (Jacqueline) Reeves, Pam Reeves, Jason (Tammy) Reeves, Tami Richard (Nick Raby), Tara (Ed) Hatfield, Tasha Richard (Greg Bouffard), Derrick( Robin) Johnston, Hannah, Maggie and Jesse Johnston and 17 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Siblings: Vera Bonnyman ,Thelma (Ron) Langille, June (Fred) Munroe, Pansy (Jerry) Hamel and Allen Bonnyman and Brother in law George Myers and sister-in-law Hattie Johnston.
Mildred was predeceased by husbands Everett Johnston and Ben Ens, son James, granddaughter Sherri Johnston. Great grandson, Christian Scott MacLean, sisters Harriet Rushton and Shirley Myers and by her brother Melvin Bonnyman.
Mildred was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and nurse. She graduated from nursing in 1969 and worked in her chosen profession in P.E.I., N.B. and Ontario. Mildred found great satisfaction in working with the elderly and opened Bonny's Nursing Home in Summerside, P.E.I.
Family was a very important part of Mom's life and she could spend hours listening to stories about her children,grandchildren and great grand children.
Mildred loved life and was active in many organizations ... Home and School, Women's Institute, Sunday School and the Prison Ministry Program where she shared the word of God with the inmates.
Mom was willing to try anything from Rollerbladeing, riding on the back of a motorcycle, square dancing, curling and knitting and most of all writing ... she kept journals which she had someday hoped to compile into a book.
A memorial service in Mildred's honour will be held Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Church of the Nazarene, Fitzoy Street, Summerside, P.E.I. Interment will be held at a later date at Fair Haven cemetery in Salisbury, N.B.
In lieu of flowers donations in Mildred's memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Society or Church of The Nazarene Fund.
