Nancy (Coffin) Martin

Lieu de décès : Fredericton, Nouveau Brunswick, Canada
Date de décès : 22 septembre 2010

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a wonderful and courageous lady, devoted mother, special Nana, loving daughter, the best sister and dearest friend, our Nancy. She was surrounded by her family holding her hands and loving her at her passing in Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, N.B., Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, following a four year battle with ovarian cancer. She recently celebrated her 46th birthday.
In Nancy's short life she accomplished many great achievements. She became the first female to attain warrant officer 1st class to lead 45 Air Marshall Air Cadet Squadron in Glace Bay. She also received many awards, including best female cadet and many community service awards. She was also honored by being presented with the gold level of The Duke of Edinburgh award by Prince Philip himself, in Ottawa.
After graduating from St. Michael's she went on to receive her cosmetology diploma from the vocational school in Sydney.
Before her illness Nancy worked at Shoppers Drug Mart in Oromocto, NB.
Most of all Nancy wished for people to know that her greatest achievements were her children. She loved being a mother and a great Nana. They were her life inspiration and drive to beat the odds given to her almost four years ago. Her strength, determination and concern for her family were nothing less than inspirational throughout this journey. We are so lucky to have shared and made so many wonderful memories. She will be dearly missed.
Nancy is survived and will be dearly missed by her parents, Donnie and Shirley (Chiasson) Coffin; children, Chad and Jessica; her pride and joy grandbabies, Tyler and Jacob; her sister, Donna Debison; brothers, Ervin (Sheila), Darrell (Carolyn); nephews and nieces; and many aunts and uncles.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Walter and Mary Chiasson; Bill and Cassie Coffin and several aunts and uncles. She now holds the hand of her dear and loving brother, Wayne; who she has joined in heaven.
Visitation for Nancy will be held Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall, all are welcome. Interment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy's memory may be made to a great cause in her community, The Extra Mural of Oromocto or to the palliative care unit at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton.
Online condolences to the family are available through www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
