Ruth Janes


Amherst, NS. It is with sorrow that the family of Ruth Janes announce her passing after a courageous and gallantry battle with cancer.
Ruth was born in St.John's NL on April 16th, 1930 the daughter of the late Margaret (Fitzgerald) and George Fowler.
Ruth will be sadly missed and remembered by Chesley her devoted husband of 59 years.
Orginally living in St. John's NL Ruth and Ches moved to Amherst NS in 2004 to be closer to family in their senior years. Besides her husband, Ruth is survived by her daughter Gladys(Arnot)Coish Amherst, two sons Greg Janes and daughter in law Beth Muir Janes, Ottawa, Ontario and Derek(Sherri)Janes, New Market,Ontario. Grandchildren, Andrea Coish and husband Jason McInnis, Susan and Jennifer Coish. Shawn, Kristen, Shannon, William, Katie and Thomas Janes. Two great grandchildren David Coish and Julia McInnis. Sisters Theresa Mullaly and Maureen Puddicombe as well as several nieces and nephews all of Newfoundland.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and staff of the Cumberland Health Care Foundation. Specially Dr K Bienkowski, Dr. Atkinson and Carol Embree of Palliative Care.
Cremation has already taken place.
Ruth's family will receive visitors on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 1 p.m. followed by funeral service at 2 p.m. all in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst.
Deacon Howard Gotell will officiate.
Following the service a time of fellowship and refreshments will be held in the funeal home.
Flowers are gracefully accepted or donations can be made in Ruth's name to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Interment will take place at a later date in St. John's, NL.
