Archibald, Edgar Merton, 93 - It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Edgar Archibald on September 28, 2010 at Wynn Park Villa, Truro. Surrounded by his family, he has now gone to join his wife, Marg (nee MacMasters) and son, Bill in heaven. Dad was born in Kemptown and was the son of the late Alfred and Rosie (Fisher) Archibald, Kemptown. Dad cherished his family and wide circle of friends. Dad and Mum taught their children the importance of family, honesty, and values and to respect others. Dad was a World War II veteran and served overseas with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. Dad was a highly respected woodsman and foreman who worked in parts of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Dad is survived by children, Gary (Judy) Archibald, North River; Alan (Linda) Archibald, Lower Onslow; Gloria (Wayne) Elliott, Valerie (Al) Tucker, Tami (Jamie) Canning, all of Folly Lake; Doris Archibald, Truro; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was the last remaining member of his immediate family and was predeceased by sisters Vera MacIntosh, Margaret Allen and brothers Herbert, George, Stanley, Lee and Charlie Archibald. Visitation will be held 6:30-8:30pm Friday, October 1, and a legion tribute service conducted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.26 Truro 6:30pm Friday, with funeral service 3pm Saturday, October 2, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Lower Onslow Clarke Cemetery, Lower Onslow. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Colchester County Food Band, the SPCA or to a charity of your choice.
