It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Janette ‘Nettie’ McLeod in her 94th year on Monday, June 8, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jenny (Dawson) Rennie.
She was a devout member of St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines.
She was also a 50-year member of Branch 2 Royal Canadian Legion, where she served as treasurer for many years.
Nettie will be sadly missed by her loving children, daughters, Peggy Nauffts (Terry), Collingwood, Ont., Sheila Ryan (Paddy), Reserve Mines; sons, Joe (Rita), Mississauga, Ont., Kevin (Donna), Reserve Mines; sisters, Agnes Murphy and Betty Staff, Toronto; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joe, daughter, Jean (Simon McDonald), three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret, Helen and brother, Bobby.
Visitation for Nettie will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2009, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 4 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines, with Fr. Gerald Campbell officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall.
