Christena ‘Tena’ Ainslie Hickey, age 93, former resident of Marlborough Avenue, Sydney, and for the past nine years a resident of Margaree, where she lived with her nephew and his wife Carl and Helena Hart. Tena passed away peacefully Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
Born in Belle Cote, Inverness County she was a daughter of the late Hanlen and Jessie (MacKay) Munro. Tena attended St. Andrew United Church, Sydney and also St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney.
She is survived by sisters, Isabel (Joe) Stasiuk, Portage La Prairie, Gladys (Glen) Bristow, Toronto and by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Hickey; sisters, Ruth Young, Mary Hart, Lettie Vair and by a brother, Edward Munro.
A graveside committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney with Rev. David Luker officiating. A reception will follow at St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney.
