Olive Geraldine Walsh was born to Barnston and Flora Beeds on August 22, 1938 at Ahtahkakoop First Nation. She grew up and went to school in Shell Lake, Saskatchewan. Olive was the fifth in a family of ten children. Olive left home at the age of 15 and worked at different jobs in Saskatchewan until she moved to Calgary at the age of 21 where she worked and met her husband Rusty. She continued her life and work there until she retired at the age of 60. Olive and Rusty were married on December 14, 1961 and had two children Arnold and Brenda who were Olive’s pride and joy. Arnold married and blessed Olive with two beautiful grandchildren – Tara and Jordan. Olive was ‘Kokum’ to them and they too were her pride and joy. Olive was a devoted daughter to her mother and phoned her every day to make sure she was okay. In May of 2007 Olive sold her home in Calgary and purchased a home in Prince Albert where she and Brenda lived until her passing. When Olive discovered that she had cancer in February of 2008 her sisters left their homes to come and be with Olive until her passing. Olive was a warm and caring individual and will be remembered as such to the many people she touched with her generosity and warmth over the years. Olive was predeceased by her parents Barnston and Flora; two sisters Irene and Eleanor; two brothers Arthur and Lawrence. She is survived by her children Arnold (Daisy) of Calgary, AB; her daughter Brenda of Prince Albert, SK; her two grandchildren Tara and Jordan of Calgary, AB; her sisters Kathleen (Lloyd) Rodocker of Shell Lake, SK, Eileen Griffiths of Calgary, AB, Lila Fines of Prince Albert, SK, Linda Newton of Vermilion, AB and Carol Jason of Perry Sound, ON as well as many nieces and nephews.
