It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Jen Hare, on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Mary Ellen (Young) Gerrow.
Jen was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church, North Sydney, taking great pride as the president of the Altar Guild for over 30 years, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary, the Birthday Club, and providing baked goods and fancy work to those who needed it.
Jen is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Douglas; her daughter, Joy (Bruce) Eavis, North Sydney; and cherished grandson Jordan. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Bertha (late Bernie) Jessome, Sydney Mines, Mary (Murray) Lannigan, Chester, N.S., Cathy (Roy) Reid, Donald (Winnie) Gerrow, both of Ontario, Clevie (Winnie) Gerrow and Bobby Gerrow, both of Florence; many loving nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.
Jen was predeceased by brothers, Ted, Harold, George, Jimmy, Joseph and three sisters in infancy.
Visitation for Jen will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday (today) in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service celebrating Jen’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church with Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
