It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Terry Wallace Binder announce his passing on Oct. 2, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital, in the arms of his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late John and Christina (McInnis) Binder and was a member of St. Leo's Church in Glace Bay.
During his lifetime, he was employed with Devco for 38 years, enjoying his membership in both the Colliery and Commercial League bowling. He also enjoyed playing pool and a good game of 45s. He was an avid follower of the Leafs and Blue Jays. Terry was also a lifetime member of the Glace Bay Pensioners where he served as secretary treasurer. Terry was a quiet man of very few words who will be truly remembered as a 'Total Family Man.'
Terry will be sadly missed by his wife, the love of his life for the past 55 years, Bea (Rogers) Binder; sons, Terry (Donna), Todd (Laurie), both of Glace Bay; daughter, Tane (Gerard Canning), British Columbia; grandchildren, Amber, Jade, Tristan, Donald, Angus, all of Glace Bay, Dakota and Keegan, British Columbia, David, Manitoba; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Brandon and Maddex. Also surviving Terry is his only sister, Norma (Simon) MacLean, Glace Bay; brother, Allisdair (Barb), Halifax; and sisters-in-law, Bonnie and Monica Binder; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Terry was predeceased by brothers, Eddie, Ray, Skippy and grandson, Brandon.
Visitation for Terry will be held Thursday, Oct. 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass officiated by Fr. Leo Boone is Friday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. in St. Leo's Church, Glace Bay, followed by interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. All are invited to join the family for a reception in the church hall.
Memorial donations in Terry's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or to the St. Leo's Building Fund.
