ANNE VICKERS
Date de naissance : 8 mars 1922
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Vickers, aged 88 years of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on October 3, 2010. Mom was born in Hamilton, Scotland on March 8, 1922 and even though she was only six years old when she moved to Canada with her family, all things Scottish were always dear to her heart. Mom was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 58 years, Wes, and her sister Margie as well as brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law. She will be missed by her children Marion (Philip); Peggie (Murray); Cathie (Nicolaus); Patricia (Satish); Lesley (Richard); Janet; and Mac (Dawn) as well as seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, brother and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Mom's family was always important to her and until recently birthdays and anniversaries were always remembered with a card and gift. Mom greatly enjoyed her job at the Conservatory of Music in Regina which she held until the family moved to Montreal in 1974. The move was a big change for Mom, but she entered into life there fully - learning to drive on the Decarie and to take the metro with ease. She loved shopping trips down St. Catherine's Street. Mom was also devoted to her work with the Gideons Ladies Auxiliary hosting many of their meetings and enjoying distributing New Testaments to the nursing students each year. She was an active member of the various churches she attended - driving out to Hemmingford, Quebec each Sunday with Dad while he preached at the Presbyterian Church there; becoming part of the Christian Women's Club through the Baptist Church in Montreal, and then a member of the Women's Missionary Society at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Moose Jaw. She enjoyed life and laughter. She loved to sing hymns and sometimes we'd find her playing them on the piano if she thought none of us was at home. Even after her bad fall in the spring of 2006, her sense of humour was evident and she was pretty quick with a smile when greeting visitors to her room in Providence Place. She will be missed for her caring, thoughtful ways but we rejoice that she is home with her heavenly Father. Following a private interment, a Funeral Service will take place at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St.E., on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 3:00 pm. Pastor Barry Holtslander will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International, c/o Mr. Doug Bristow, 1304 Queen Crescent, Moose Jaw, S6H 3G4 or to St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 80 High St. E. Moose Jaw, S6H 0B8. Please sign the memorial register at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
