ANNAPOLIS ROYAL – Norma Elta Mason, 87, June 9, 2009.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a grand lady while residing at North Hills Nursing Home, Annapolis Royal.
Born in Truro on September 19, 1921, she was a daughter of the late John and Edith (Nevin) McTaggart.
Norma and her best pal, sister Moi were inseparable, travelling Pictou County in the early years as well as going off to Montreal to work when they were very young ladies. After returning to her roots, Norma, was later employed as a bank teller with the Bank of Nova Scotia and personal secretary at Traders Finance in New Glasgow. Throughout her life Norma resided in Montreal, New Glasgow, Juneau, Alaska; Vancouver, Dartmouth, and Kingston, NS. With her husband Allan, she travelled extensively throughout the world bringing back fond memories of far off peoples and places. Wherever she lived she was always heavily involved with her church and charity work touching many with her gracious nature and leaving a void that will never be filled.
She is survived by her son, Donald (Ann) McKeil, Kingston, NS; grandson, Christopher McKeil, Peterborough, Ont.; granddaughter, Melissa McKeil, Ottawa, Ont.; great-granddaughter, Madelyn, Peterborough, Ont.; step-son, Donald Thompson (Mary), Cambridge, Ont; step-daughters, Anne Harper, Kitchener, Ont.; Janet (Rick) Dawson, Calgary; sister, Patricia Loring, Saint John, NB; brother, John McTaggart, Summerside, PEI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin McKeil; daughter, Susan McKeil; grandson, Richard McKeil; husband, Allan Sutherland Thompson, New Glasgow, NS; husband, George Mason, Juneau, Alaska; and sister, Moi Fraser, New Glasgow.
