McKILLOP (Anderson), Leslie Stewart - B.A.(Hon), M.A., B.Ed., M.Ed. - 64, of Truro, NS, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, October 4, 2010. Born April 29, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Earle H. Anderson and Joyce (Atherton) Anderson of Digby, NS. She is survived by her husband, David McKillop; her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Michelle McKillop of San Jose, CA; her brother, Dr. Ian (Carmen) Anderson of Rothesay, NB, their children, Michael (Elisabeth), Mark, Heath (Alison), and Jamie; uncle, Dr. Tom (Elizabeth) Rogers, Churchover, NS; fourteen cousins. Also left to mourn is her mother-in-law, Ethel (late Walter) McKillop of Stewiacke, NS; her in-laws, Brian (Cheryl) McKillop, Beaver Bank, NS, their children, Daniel and Ashley; and Judy (Russell) Stoddart, Stewiacke, NS, their children, Aaron and Cara; goddaughter, Julia Leslie Grant. Predeceased by grandparents, Frank and Flora Anderson, J.P. and Edith Atherton; uncles, Charles and Robert Atherton; aunts, Jean Rogers, Alice Christie, and Beth Wigmore; cousin, Innis Christie. A well respected educator, Leslie's career included English teacher and guidance counselor at Sackville High School, Lower Sackville, NS; associate professor of English at the former Nova Scotia Teachers College, Truro, NS; and consultant in the Testing and Evaluation Division of the Nova Scotia Department of Education. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Leslie's family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 8, 2010. A service of celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2010, in First Baptist Church, 759 Prince Street, Truro. Family flowers only. Donations in Leslie's memory to MS Society or Little White Schoolhouse Museum are welcome.
