JOHNSON, Claire Eileen - 88, of Truro, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010, at Vimy Court. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Nell (MacLean) Trenholm, of Amherst and Truro. She spent her early childhood in Halifax, before moving to Truro. Her married life, with husband of sixty years, Clarence B. and family of four was spent in Truro; for more than forty years, winter months were spent at Port Charlotte, Florida, and summer months at Folly Lake until she moved back to Truro in 2002. Claire was actively involved in her husband's work with the Halifax Herald, was a long time member of St. Andrew's United Church in Truro and a charter member of Isgonish Chapter, I. O. D. E. In Port Charlotte, she was a member of the Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. In her early years she was an avid bridge player; her artistic talents are seen in her numerous needlework tapestries. She is survived by daughters, Carolyn Johnston, Newport, Oregon; Judy (Doug) McKeague, Bragg Creek, Alberta; Linda St. Pierre (Dennis), Port Charlotte, Florida; grandsons, Tony and Todd (Marlea) Albright, Darren (Sue) McKeague, Chadd and Toby (Tami) St. Pierre; four great grandchildren; sister, Kaye MacKay, Brookfield; sister-in-law, Rosemary (Keith) Baas, Masstown, several nieces & nephews. She will be missed by special friends, Marg Bartkus, Bedford and Martena Hendsbee, Truro. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence (July 2001); son, Philip (1968); brothers, Donald and Alan Trenholm; sister-in-law and close friend, Gwendolyn Cook (2010). All are invited to attend a graveside funeral service 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at Robie Street Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro.
