(September 4, 1940 - June 9, 2009). Passed away suddenly and peacefully at the Health Sciences Complex on Tuesday, June 9th, 2009, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family, Alex Stevens of New Harbour, aged 68 years. He is predeceased by his parents Archibald and Esther Stevens, brothers Archibald (Jr.) and Fred, sisters Edina and Stella, parents-in-law Edward and Belinda Cumby and brother-in- law Dave. He leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories, his loving wife of fifty years, Marie (Ree) nee Cumby; two children: son Mark (Jen), daughter Dale (Dave) Davis; five precious grandchildren: Melissa (Mark Chipman) and Melissa’s mother Marg, Terri-Beth (Michael Higdon), Laura (Colin Cranford), Tyler and Kyle and their mother Tina; one great-granddaughter Layla; three step-grandchildren Steven, Nichole and Jonathan. Also lovingly remembered by brothers and sisters Levi (Fran), twin brother Charlie (Clara), Gilbert (Shirley), Eric (Pauline) and Llewelyn, Mary (Lewis) and Florence; brothers and sisters-in-law Ted (Iona), Ron (Annie), Ed (Sarah) and Wilson Collins (Rosalind, deceased), Bertha Stevens (Archibald, deceased), Helen (Garland ), Marilyn (Jerry) Stevens and Joy (Jeff); as well as a large number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place.
