KILLAWEE, Charles David "Charlie" - 73, Truro, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born July 5, 1937, in Salmon River, Colchester County, he was a son of the late John William and Edith Wilhelmina (Archibald) Killawee. Charles graduated from Colchester County Academy, Provincial Teacher's College, Truro, and University of Ottawa. Charles was a retired schoolteacher, having taught for 33 years. He taught at Musquodoboit Rural High School, Gaspe, Quebec, Rawdon, Quebec and finally spent the last years of his teaching career at Philemon Wright High School in Hull, Quebec. Charles was always very dedicated to his family and was extraordinarily generous with both his time and his efforts in caring for those who needed him. Charles was one of those people who quietly gave of himself, doing good deeds for others, never seeking recognition. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Charles is survived by his son, David (Nicole) Killawee, North Bay, Ontario; daughter, Suzanne (Sean) O'Connor, Winchester, Ontario; grandchildren, Scott LaRochelle, Ian and Jonathan Killawee, Joshua, Lauryn and Lillian O'Connor; two great grandchildren; former wife, Elizabeth Killawee, Aylmer, Quebec; brothers, Archie (Janet) Killawee, Tom Killawee (Elinor Maher), Truro; Philip (Grace) Killawee, Bedford; Paul Killawee, Halifax; niece, Karen Killawee (Allan Henley), Truro; nephews, Robert (Jacque Berry), Vancouver; John (Patricia Nunn), Truro; Andrew, Matthew, Jacob and Stephane Killawee, Halifax; close friend, Faye Matthews, Harmony. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Thomas and Grace (McLeod) Killawee; maternal grandparents, John and Wilhelmina (Sutherland) Archibald. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2010, Reverend Douglas Chard officiating.
