Michael “Mike” Dirk passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday June 11, 2009 at the age of 85. Mike was born April 25, 1924 in the Liebenthal district, near Leader, SK. His family moved to Moose Jaw where he met the love of his life Velma E. Farnham. Mike was a semi-truck driver for 27years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Camping with his family and the Moose Jaw Camping Club was another favorite activity. Mike is survived by his wife of 62 years, Velma; his constant companion Scooby; daughter Chery Ann (Jim) Hoffmeyer – Sherwood Park;AB, and their sons Shawn (Shannon) and Chad (daughter Ashley); daughter Diane (Shane) Migneault and their family Jared and Braden Huel, Benjamin (Alesia) Migneault, Rebecca (Pete) Lewans, Tyson (Brittany) Migneault; sister Rose (Allan) Woit; great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents Clara and Joseph Dirk; sister Ann Bonogofski; and sister and brother-in-law Agatha “Mary” and John Steinkey. In his later years Mike experienced peacefulness at the family cabin at the lake. Mike’s sense of humor and joy of life will live on in all whose lives he touched. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. A Memorial Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday June 16, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate.
