HOLMES, James Gordon "Jim" - 71, Truro, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born September 15, 1939, in Truro, he was a son of the late Stewart and Thelma (Gaynes) Holmes. Jim was a self employed carpenter, who worked in various places and always took great pride in his work. Jim is survived by his children, Kirk Holmes (Susan Syr), Saltsprings; Kelly (Terry) Chase, Moncton; Matthew Holmes (Veronique Lamoureux), Montreal, Quebec; grandchildren, Brandon Moore, Jonathan MacIntosh; sister, Donna (Charlie) Chapman, Maine; family members, Paul, Robert and Phil Denton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Jim's family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m., Sunday, October 17, 2010, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, October 18, 2010, Reverend John Tonks officiating. Jim will be interred next to his grandmother, Arletta "Gram" Burke in Robie Street Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Jim's memory to Canadian Diabetes Association are welcomed.
