It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, Colin Patrick O’Neil, son of the late Patrick O’Neil and Catherine (MacDougall) O’Neil on Saturday, June 13, 2009.
He was employed by Sydney Steel Corp., until retirement in 1991, and a part time lobster fisherman up until the time of his death. He was also an honorary fireman with the Bateston Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (MacLean) O’Neil; daughters, Arlene O’Neil (Hughie), Albert Bridge, Cathy O’Neil, Linda (Claude Coleman), Louisbourg; sons, Stevie (Melinda), Gary (Belinda), Bateston, Kelly (Karen), Albert Bridge; grandchildren, Courtney, Leandra and Alisha Gallaway, Krystian, Julian, Kendra O’Neil, Janna, Katelyn Bates, Logan, Luke O’Neil and Claudia Coleman. He is also survived by one brother, Rob (Maureen), Bateston; sisters, Mary (Mike Longard), Coxheath, Rita (Glenn King), Shubenacadie, Jean (George Flory), Barb (Clyde Holland), Halifax; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeseased by his son, Ronnie, November 2007, sisters, Frances and Annette.
Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Main-a-Dieu, Tuesday, June l6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, Immaculate Conception Church, officiated by Fr. Patrick O’Neill.
