It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Anne Cooke of Sydney River. Carol Anne passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 at the An Cala unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Nina Josephine (Lynch) Cooke. Carol Anne was a resident at the Braemore Home, Sydney River and a former resident of King Edward Street, Glace Bay. While living in Glace Bay she was a member of St. Anne's Church.
In earlier years, she and her group of close friends enjoyed bowling, dancing and their numerous outings. She had a love for all types of music and enjoyed listening to the radio. Carol Anne was a very happy and likeable person with a great sense of humour.
She will be sadly missed by her brothers, Billie, John A., both of Glace Bay, Patrick, James, both of Ont; sisters, Josie Cooke, Montreal, Marie Cooke Anderson, New Waterford and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by brothers, Aubrey, Paul and three siblings in infancy.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 20, from 2-4 p.m. only, with a funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Leo Boone officiating. Cremation will follow with interment in St. Eugene's Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to express their thanks to all nurses and staff at the Braemore Home for their care and compassion given to Carol Anne during her stay at the home and also to the nursing staff at the Cape Breton Hospital especially the palliative care unit for making her final days as comfortable as possible.
