With sadness on Sunday October 17, 2010, Stella Henriette Lainey, 98, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital with her family by her side. Mom was born in Scoudouc on July 29, 1912. She was the daughter of Dionus and Zelica (Melanson) Babin. Stella enjoyed being with family, reading, doing puzzles, playing cards with her family and friends, and visiting Florida for many years during the winter. Mom will be sadly missed by her two daughters: Linda (Wayne) Mattice of Riverview and Judy (Richard) Melanson of Moncton; two sisters: Lorraine (late Armand) Gautreau and Rita (late Leonard) Boudreau of Moncton; two brothers: Roger (Lucille) Babin of Shediac Cape and Sam (Joyce) Babin of Dieppe; three grandchildren: Danah (Rusty) Smith of Riverview, Mark and Darren Melanson of Mississauga; two great-grandchildren: Cassy and Caleb Smith of Riverview, a daughter-in-law, May Lainey of Shediac. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Nereay Lainey, her son, Richard "Clem", three brothers: Leo, Raymond, and Emile, and a granddaughter, Heather Mattice.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, October 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. ONLY at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa's R.C. Church, Dieppe, on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery besides her husband.
