NORTON, James Arthur "Jim" - 86, Kingston, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 9, 2010. Born in Mackayville, Quebec, he was a son of the late Albert and Violet (Walton) Norton. Jim was retired from the Canadian Navy - Chief E. R. A. after 25 years of service including serving during Second World War. Following his retirement he was General Manager for Trizec Properties, (Halifax Shopping Center) for 20 years. Jim was an avid golfer. Jim is survived by his wife, Catherine "Cathy" (Bowers); sons, James "Jim" (Gerry), Kentville, William "Bill" (Anne), Halifax; grandchildren, Chris, Greg, Gillian, Matthew and Michael Norton; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Joshua, Jacob, Miles and Maria Norton and great-great grandson, Landon Norton; stepchildren, Robert Gibbs and Christine Gibbs, Halifax. There was no visitation. Funeral service took place on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., in Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0, (902-538-9900), with Rev. Matthew Sponagle officiating. Burial was in the Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Middleton. In lieu of flowers donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Building Fund.
