Elizabeth "Betty" Killen aged 85 years of Black River Road, Springhill, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at her residence. Born in New-Biggen by the Sea, England, she was a daughter of the Late Thomas and Mary (Creigh) Bell.
During WW II, Betty served with the RCAF (WD). She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Springhill and Catholic Women's League; Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 17, Springhill and The Springhill Senior Citizens. She enjoyed dancing, travelling, golfing, bowling, swimming, spending time at her cottage at Heather's Beach and her family. She will be sadly missed by her sons, David (Judy), New Glasgow and Donald (Karen), Springhill; brother, Thomas (Mona) Bell, Hamilton, Ontario; four grandchildren, 2 step grandsons and six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Albert Killen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, NS (902 597 2361). Visiting will take place on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm from the funeral home. The funeral service will be held from A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11 am with Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in North Street Roman Catholic Cemetery, Springhill.
