Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the Interfaith Home, Corner Brook, Rita Loretta Hickey, at the age of 80. She will be lovingly remembered by her eight children: Bridget Hickey, Owen Hickey, Lucy Sheehan (Ben), Benoits Cove, Peter Hickey, O’Connell Centre, Myles Hickey (Susan), Antigonish, NS, Anthony Hickey (Christal), Ontario, Benedict Hickey and Loretta Hickey, Benoits Cove; nine grandchildren: John, Dustin, Lorijon, Adam, Thomas, Matthew, Randy, Craig and Stacey; one great-grandchild, Chloe; sisters: Cecilia Gallant, Maude Dormody and Bridget Boland (James); brothers: John McCarthy, Jerome McCarthy, Peter McCarthy (Pearl) and Leo McCarthy (Bella); sister-in-law, Clara Hickey; brother-in-law, Gerald Hynes; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband, Frank Hickey, March 6, 1998; parents: Patrick and Martha McCarthy; brothers: Patrick McCarthy and Lawrence McCarthy; sister, Theresa Hynes; brothers-in-law: Stephen Gallant, Edward Dormody, John Boland, Owen Hickey, William Hickey and Stephen Hickey; sisters-in-law: Sarah McCarthy and Christina McCarthy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 13th at 10:30 a.m. from Our Lady Star of The Sea Church, Benoits Cove, Father Bernard Buckle officiating, followed by the interment at the church cemetery.
