Lieu de naissance : Port Morien, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de naissance : 4 novembre 1936
Lieu de décès : Dominion, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 23 octobre 2010
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and our friend. Jimmy passed away at the New Waterford Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010.
Born in Port Morien, Jimmy was the son of the late Gordon and Annie (MacNeil) Clements of Morien and later, New Aberdeen.
Jimmy was, in early years, a member of the armed forces, Black Watch Squadron serving in Gagetown, Cyprus and Germany. In his later years he was employed by Scotsburn Dairy, retiring after 25 years of service.
Jimmy was a man of simple tastes, whose greatest enjoyments came from his family, home and friends. He loved cars, especially antiques, spending time with his friends down at Cliff's garage, but perhaps his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his much-loved granddaughter, Emma. He enjoyed hockey and while serving with the Canadian Armed forces was a starting goalie with the armed forces team playing overseas in Germany and other European countries.
Jimmy had great faith and although he suffered greatly over the past 10 months with his illness, he always demonstrated courage, perseverance and determination with quiet dignity. He was always so appreciative of the kindness of others who cared for him whether great or small.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted family, his wife, Vina (Sudworth); son, Jeff; cherished granddaughter; Emma; brother, Greg; sisters-in-law, Patsy Sudworth, Doreen MacKinnon, Sheila McIntyre, Paula Adams; brothers-in-law, Fabian (Cathy) Sudworth, Hal (Kitty) Sudworth; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, stepmother, Edna Clements, Jimmy was predeceased by his brother, Gordon Jr., sister, Ollie, brothers-in-law, Daniel Sudworth, Brendan McIntyre, mother and father-in-law, Harold and Blanche Sudworth.
Visitation for Jimmy will be held Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Church with Fr. Boone officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Jimmy's memory may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care or a charity of one's choice.
