The death of Mr. Wendell Phillips Jones Ritchie, husband of Florence Jean DeLong of Miramichi, NB, occurred on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his residence at the age of 87. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Harold H. and Gertrude R. (Jones) Ritchie. Wendell was a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Newcastle as well as a church choir member. He worked with Fraser Companies Ltd. as a Civil Engineer. He retired in 1988 as president of Sunny Corner Mechanical (1976) Ltd. He was also a life member of the APEGNB and past president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of New Brunswick. Wendell is survived by: one daughter: Nancy McAllister (John) of Miramichi, NB; three sons: Gerald (Saundra) of Miramichi, NB; Harold "Hal" (Edith) of Dartmouth, NS; Raymond (Mary Ellen) of Miramichi, NB; three sisters: Betty Murray (Bob) of Truro, NS; Patsy Stothart (Dave) of Ottawa, ON; Suzanne Skidmore of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; grandchildren: Patricia, Jeff, Mark, Ken, Wendy, Louise, Andrew, Beth, Rebeka and Katie-Rose; great grandchildren: Logan, Charlotte, Claire and Kael and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Newcastle on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 11 AM with The Ven. Richard Steeves officiating. Burial will follow in the Miramichi Cemetery. In Wendell's memory, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice.
