Annie ‘Tiny’ MacDonald, 86 of Sydney, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009 at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family and her loved ones.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Sarah (Wade) Delaney.
She was a member of the Immaculate Heart Parish C.W.L; Mira Road Fire Hall Ladies Auxillary; Branch 12, RCL Ladies Auxillary and Sydney Pensioners Club. She enjoyed bowling and her VON adult program; playing 45s and tarabish. She was very active and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Annie served with the CWAC during the Second World War. She was the first woman in the armory shop in 1943.
She is survived by her son, Bernie (Geraldine), Halifax; sisters, Mary ‘Mamie’ (Bernie) Doucette; Clara Lloyd; brother, Mike, all of Sydney; grandchildren, Bernie, Lee-Ann, Helen; great-grandchildren, Dean, Aleea, Breia and Joshua. She will also be sadly missed by her special niece, caregiver and friend, Connie Delaney-Day.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael J. ‘Mickey’; three brothers, William ‘Bill’, Frank ‘Tanner’, Alphonse ‘Diddles’; sister, Margaret ‘Peggy’ and sister-in-law, Eva Delaney.
Visitation for Annie MacDonald will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Immaculate Heart Church with Rev. Gerald Dunphy officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Family flowers only by request. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care department of the C.B. Regional Hospital or a charity of choice.
