The passing of Margaret "Peggy" Balcom Bashow, wife of the late Dr. Lynn Bashow, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on October 29, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 2, 1916 in Troy, New York, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Fred and Helen (Balcom) Hawkesworth. She was a veteran of World War II, Branch R.C.A.M.C Canadian Medical Corps, serving in England. Peggy enjoyed walking, reading and was well known for her impish sense of humour and her love and encouragement of others. She will be sadly missed. In recent months Peggy had been residing at the Fredericton Veteran's Health Unit where she was well taken care of and loved by all the staff. Many thanks for their efficient handling of our concerns and the care that she was given there.



She is survived by sons, David (Heather) and Fred Bashow; her daughter, Liz (Marcel) Morency; grandsons, Joshua and Adam Bashow; granddaughters, Danielle Doubleday and Chandra Morency de Martinez; great grandsons, Owen and Adrian Doubleday; great granddaughter, Rylee Bashow; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Capt. Fred and Bill Hawkesworth and her sister, Helen Hawkesworth.



In keeping with Peggy's wishes there will be no visitation, a Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Brad Little officiating. Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Peggy's memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
