BROWN, Grace Elizabeth – 81, Truro, passed away Thursday evening, November 4, 2010, at Williams Country Home, Hilden. Born November 5, 1928, in Lochaber, Antigonish County, she was the eldest child of the late William and Eva (Nichols) Brown. She lived most of her adult life in Truro where she worked as a secretary after graduating from Success Business College. Grace found pleasure in the daily newspaper, a good book, a game of bridge, trips to Great Britain and the companionship of cats. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Jim) Ostewig, Goshen; cousins, Stewart (Judy) Reeves, Ottawa; Bertha Nichols, Dartmouth; David (Renee) Brown, Martha Brown, Lochaber, all of whom were were very supportive; nieces, Pamela Maxwell, Beverley Brown, Ontario; Beth MacKeen, Lori Black, Bedford. She was predeceased by her brother, James. Grace is also survived by her “like-family”, the caring staff at Williams Country Home where she spent her last four years; new friend, Becky Main, who visited her faithfully bearing loving words and flowers from her garden. Honouring Grace’s wishes, there will be a gathering 3 p.m., Sunday, November 7, at Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, to which family and friends are invited to share stories of their lives with her. Reception will follow. A second reception for family and friends will be held 3 p.m., Monday, November 8, in Sylvan Hall, Lochaber. Private family interment will be held in North Lochaber Cemetery.
