It is with broken hearts and deep sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Olive McPhee, 85, formerly of Wood Avenue, New Waterford, at the Maple Hill Manor on Nov. 5, 2010.
Born in Ramea, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Florence Dorothy (Hatcher) Kendall.
Olive had a passion for bingo, cards, and the love of her cats. She was fortunate to have her loving and dedicated son, Dale, living in New Waterford and by her side every day.
She was a member of the Army, Navy, Airforce, Unit 217, for 42 years and in that time, she was the treasurer of the ladies auxilliary for 24 years.
Olive is survived by four children, Diane (Renee) MacIsaac, Kingston, Dorothy (Ron) Perreault, Niagara Falls, Dale (Carol Ann) MacPhee, New Waterford, Dino (Corrina) McPhee, Whitby, Ont.; sisters, Lillian (Owen) Piercey, North Sydney, Caroline Keeping and Vivian Kendall; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Michael; children, Blair, Michael, Carol Brenna; son-in-law, John Brenna; granddaughter, Dawn Marie; brother, Edwin, brothers-in-law; Gordon Kendall and Al Keeping.
Visitation for Olive will be held Monday, Nov. 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Doug MacDonald officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in St. Agnes Cemetery at a later date. A luncheon will be held at the Army Navy Airforce, Unit 217, New Waterford, immediately following the funeral mass.
