Sr. Nora Fogarty, 97, died in Parkstone Enhanced Care on Nov. 4, 2010. Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Joy) Fogarty.
She entered the Sisters of Charity in Halifax in 1934 and made her religious profession in 1936. Sr. Nora was involved in the teaching profession from 1936 until 1979. She taught in Nova Scotia, Bermuda, and British Columbia during these years. In 1979, Sr. was involved in parish ministry until she retired in 1991. In 1996, she transferred to the Retirement Centre of Mount Saint Vincent Motherhouse.
She is survived by sisters, Mamie McNeil, Sydney, Margaret Currie, Toronto, many nieces and nephews, and many grandnieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters Genevieve, Agnes, and Etta, brothers, Patrick, Richard, and William.
A mass of Christian burial took place on Monday, Nov. 8 in Immaculate Conception Chapel, Caritas Residence, Halifax. Burial followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
