Dave graduated from Bishops College in 1967 and Memorial University in 1974 with a degree in Civil Engineering, beginning a long and rewarding career culminating in his position as Vice President of Marco Services Ltd. Tirelessly active in the greater engineering and construction community of Newfoundland and Labrador before retiring in early 2010, he will be missed by the countless people in his career with whom he had forged lasting relationships; professional, personal and often both.
Described as an “incomparably lovely manâ€, Dave was a devoted husband and father who loved life and lived it to the fullest with the many people with whom he surrounded himself. Making friends came easily, from many diverse and loving circles, including, but certainly not limited to the infamous ‘Club Crowd’. Please know that he loved and appreciated you all dearly. He traveled the island extensively, had a passion for the place he called home and knowledge of all things Newfoundland that was without compare.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Cancer Clinic at the HSC, especially Drs. Jonathan Greenland and Joy McCarthy and nurse Suzan Power who kept us laughing through difficult times. Also, our dear friend Dr. Maureen Dunne for her unfailing care and devotion.
Funeral has taken place from St Thomas’ Anglican Church, Military Road Friday, November 12. Inurnment followed at the Anglican Cemetery Columbarium, Forest Road. Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the Dr. H Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
