Leonard Michael MacNeil, 85, of East Broadway, Whitney Pier, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late James and Jane (MacNeil) MacNeil.
Leonard was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the North Shore Regiment in England, Germany and Holland and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12, Sydney.
He retired from Cape Breton Transit, formerly the Sydney/Whitney Pier Bus Co.
Surviving are his wife, Mary (Hinkley); daughter, Lenna MacNeil (Brian), Sydney; sons, James (Patti), Strathroy, Ont., David (Marie), Sydney, and Bill (Phuong), Greenbush, Ont.; grandchildren, Michael, Pamela, Breagh, Victoria and Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.
Leonard was predeceased by his sisters, Katie and Bridget and brothers, Walter, Alexander and Hugh.
The will be no visitation or service. Interment will be held at a later date.
