Danny Conrod, 41, of Forsyth Street, New Waterford, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Toronto, he was the son of Bernard and Carmella (Fraser) Conrod.
Danny was a former member of St. Michael’s Church, River Ryan.
He graduated from UCCB with his LPN diploma and was employed at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, 3A.
In his spare time, Danny loved to call bingo and work the floor every Friday night at the New Waterford rink. He was a very compassionate man who was blessed with a great sense of humour and a great love for his children. He could often be seen playing baseball with his children during the summer months.
Danny is survived by his former wife, Susan (Harding) Conrod, New Waterford; two daughters, Hope (Adam), Brett and one son, Blake, all in New Waterford. Also surviving is his brother, Jimmy, British Columbia; two sisters, Jeanne (Vance), Newfoundland, Bernadette, New Waterford; four nieces, Cali, Deionne, Vicki, Danni and one nephew, Couper.
Danny will be sadly missed by his best friend, Alicia Doyle and her son Johnathan and many close cousins, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by one brother, Johnnie and his stepfather, Michael ‘Farmer’ MacNeil.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass will be officiated by Rev. Ray Huntley Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Avenue. Cremation to follow.
As an expression of sympathy for Danny, donations in his memory may be made to Prostate Cancer Research Foundation.
