CLYKE, Muriel Aileen – 83, of Truro. It is with great sadness that the family of Muriel Clyke, announce her passing on Tuesday morning, November 16, 2010, at the Colchester Regional Hospital. Over the years, Muriel was involved with local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and served on the Executive of the Ladies Auxiliary. She prayed at St. John’s Anglican Church. She was a long time member of the Liberal Party and worked on every Provincial and Federal election since 1953. For many years, she served the seniors of the area as chair of the Truro Housing Authority. Muriel also belonged to a local chapter of the Red Hat Society. Born in Truro, Muriel was the daughter of the late Pearl (Higgins) and Roy Works. She is survived by her beloved husband, John and will be greatly missed by her children; Sheldon (Kim), Dartmouth, Leslie (Yves), Montreal and John (Kim), Ottawa; sister, Doreen Wilson, St. Alberts; sister-in-laws, Olive (Billy) Jackson, Dartmouth, Frances Mills-Clements, Bridgetown, Louise Clyke, Toronto and Marlene Clyke, Halifax and brother-in-law, Gerald (Linda), Sudbury. Muriel had nine grandchildren and one great grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews. ‘Moolie’ was well known and loved within the community and will be sadly missed by her many friends. Cremation has taken place, with funeral services scheduled for a later date. Muriel’s family sends a special thanks to Dr. Phillips and the staff at the Colchester Regional Hospital, for all of their care and assistance during her stay.
