The passing of Noreen Joyce (Allen) Carr, wife of Douglas R. Carr occurred on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Noreen was born on November 9, 1933 in Edmundston, NB. Noreen, a well known NB Artist, held 15 solo exhibits and numerous group exhibits. She began teaching art to children at the YWCA in Saint John and went on to teach art to adults through workshops at UNBSJ. Her paintings were accepted by the New Brunswick Art Bank and throughout Canada and the United States. On moving to Fredericton, she exhibited with the Science Centre, Arts Dept. UNB, Gallery Connection and Community College in Woodstock, NB. She also had taught children at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. She taught avid teenagers art at Sunbury Arts and Nature Centre in St. Andrew’s, NB for 15 years. She may also be remembered for her generous providing to gift shops of her 50 designs of stationery. Noreen was a member of Morning Gate Church (formerly First Congregational Church) and belonged to two ladies groups. In addition to her loving husband, Noreen is survived by her four sons, Gregory (Susan), Brian both of Saint John, NB, Keith (Wanda) of Charters Settlement and Peter (Dawn) of Clarendon; grandchildren, Eric, Adam, Sean, Drew Carr all of Saint John, NB, Justin and Jason Murray of Charters Settlement, NB; one sister, Marion Cooke of Nova Scotia; several nephews and one niece.
Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Morning Gate Church (formerly First Congregational Church) on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 2 pm with Pastor Patrick Halferty officiating. Interment will take place in the Ocean View Gardens, Saint John, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the New Brunswick Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
